When life gives you lemons...

I didn't have time this week to post, sorry. However, in case you didn't already see, I changed a bit in my blog lay-out. The website looks much cleaner now and the menu on top now stays on top when you scroll down. Give it a try! ;)
Anyways, on to the nail art. I did this design a couple of weeks ago. I wanted to combine stripes with flowers or something else. Finally I came across a design by The Nail Snail I really loved. It was a design with lemons on top of a grid. I used her tutorial and gave it a little twist. See for yourself!

The shape of the lemons doesn't look very realistic, but I hope you can recognize them.

I was really happy with this result. Somehow this blue shade goes very well with silver lines.

That's it for today! Soon I'll be starting with my exams so don't expect many posts until the end of June. I will try to make some nail art, yet I can't promise anything! Enjoy your weekend!

Nerd-Geek Challenge: Fantastic Beast

We have finally come to the last prompt of the Nerd-Geek challenge hosted by Roaring Nails and Frankiehuntersnails. If you missed my previous designs, here are the links for character, movie and TV-show. The last theme is fantastic beasts. Therefore I decided to make some unicorn nail art. A unicorn is a fantastic beast, right? However, I had a great time making these. Let's have a look!

Newbies: Graphic nail tattoos

Two weeks ago I finally tried the graphic nail tattoos of Bourjois I showed a loooong time ago. (original post) In this post I wrote: "I really can't wait to try them!" Yeah right, now no one believes me anymore! ;) Nevertheless, I did find some time and occasion to try them. Two weeks ago we had a little 'festival' at school and as the weather was perfect I felt the urge to dress festival like. Therefore I put on a shortall and made my nails very hipster with those nail tattoos. :) Have a look!

May flowers

Today I'll show you some flowers. I'm not the most proud of them, however, I think they look nice. Firstly I wanted to create something Hawaiian, but it didn't turn out as planned so I made this simpler version with dots. Enjoy!

(I absolutely have to buy liquid palisade or something like that because making gradients with such strong pigmented polishes is just killing me!)

So, what do you think of the nail art?

Abstract & pastel for summer

Hello there!

The last week has been very inspirational and productive for my blog. I made lots of designs and I can't wait to show you them. Besides that, I decided to give myself a break for a week as I have enough posts. I don't think I will survive this week with no nail art, because I have so much inspiration at the moment. My creativity level is beyond normal. I think the reason for that is the fact that my finals are getting closer and my mind just needs to escape once in a while. You have no idea how hard it is to concentrate on school work and studying whilst knowing that this is my last year in high school and this summer will be the longest in my life! It's such a great feeling, however, I need to be realistic at the moment and concentrate on school!

Now that you know what's going on in my life, I should show you today's nail art. First a question. What will happen if you combine abstract art and pastel colours? The outcome will be this great design which is perfect for summer! ;)

In case you're following me on Instagram, you've probably seen my sneak peek of this design. The only thing missing then were the dots!

I love this combo so much! Looking at this makes me so happy! I hope you like it as much as I do!

Hidden gold and neon

Hi there!

The design I'm going to show you today is from quite some time ago. I wanted to try something with my striping tape and this is what I came up with.

I polished my nails half gold, half neon and this effect was created! I waited a lot before putting the striping tape. I really wanted to be sure everything was dry.

I expected the gold and neon to pop out more, when I added the black. However, it is a nice result. It was only a mess to clean afterwards! :)

Do you like it? Let me know!

Follow your dreams

Today I'll share some dream catchers inspired nail art. I always liked to do so, but there was always something stopping me. When I first started with nail art, dream catchers seemed too difficult to do. Later on I was worried that I wouldn't make nice feathers. Today there's nothing stopping me anymore. I was ready to accept challenging myself. It turned out to be quite easy. After all there's nothing you can do wrong. Do you want to see the nail art? Well, here it is!

Nerd-Geek Challenge: TV-show

It's time for the third prompt of the Nerd-Geek Challenge. This week we had to choose a TV-show. Because I don't watch any fantasy or sci-fi shows I changed the 'rules' a bit... I went for a TV-show on which the characters love sci-fi and fantasy, namely The Big Bang Theory. Above all they are geeks so that makes everything complete.

For the nail art I chose the logo which you can see here.

I won't say much more, as I'm not happy with it. The image and my version in my head were quite different from the result... Oh well, I just didn't have time and was getting angry with it so I decided to just leave it the way it is!

I'll be back soon with some good nail art, don't worry! ;)

In celebration of Princess Charlotte Elizabeth Diana

Hi all!

You've probably seen that the little British princess is born and today they announced her name: Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. I love this combination of names! How about you?
Although I'm not British nor live in the United Kingdom, I used this opportunity of her birth to make nail art inspired by the Union Jack. Of course I added a reference to the little one! ;)

I made an ombre effect with the Union Jack. Say What?! How cool is that, right? I've wanted to try this for ages and now I couldn't resist!

The reference I was talking about is this design on my thumb. It represents a baby girl, in case you didn't recognize it! ;)

So, what do you think of all of this? Do you like/love my ombre effect? And what about the baby girl? I would love to know!

Nerd-Geek Challenge: Movie

As promised I 'll show you my nerd-geek nails inspired by a movie. It was very easy to come up with a movie. I just had to grab this chance to make some Harry Potter nails. Yeah, you heard me right! I'm a big fan of HP and I wanted so badly to make some HP nails.
The only problem was the design. There's so much you can make inspired by the Harry Potter series. It was very difficult for me to choose. Therefore I went for something simple. I decided to make a design with the Hogwarts houses.

Are you on Pottermore? And do you know in which house you belong? I'm a Ravenclaw. The sorting hat really knows everyone! ;)

On my thumb I wrote Hogwarts in a special font. First I made a sketch on paper and then I tried to copy it, but my thumb was too short so I had to change it a bit. Nevertheless, I'm happy with the result.

That was it for today! Do you like this nail art?
