Day 1: Colour

Today's the first day of my first 31 day challenge! I'm so excited! :)
So today's theme was a colour. I inspired my design by two shades of coral.

This is a very easy beginning of the challenge. But it will get harder! :)
What do you think? Feel free to share your creations!

Tutorial: doodle flowers + easy ombre

This will be my last nail design before the 31 day challenge! This nail art is definitely one of my favourites. It was a very spontaneous and last-minute decision. All the colours are so spring-related. I wore this for like 4 days (on the 4th day my nail broke! If that didn't happen I would probably still have it on my nails.) Happily for you I made a tutorial (it's been a while...).

Here is some explanation:
1. Start with a base coat and then a neutral colour. It doesn't have to be more than one coat as there are going to be more layers above that one.
2. Use an eyeshadow brush with the first colour for the ombre at your cuticles. I chose coral.
3. Take the other side of that brush for the second colour. Here: Essie- Apple Mint Candy.
4. Take a new brush for the last colour of the ombre. This one is Sephora's Give Peach a Chance.
5. Clean around your nails with a cleaning brush.
6. I used the white nail art pen by Barry M for the flowers and the dots. You see 4 different types of flowers. The biggest one is just two 8-forms across each other. Then we also have a dot with stripes around it. The third one is again a dot but with a curled line. The last type is a filled in flower. In the empty spaces I placed some dots.
7. Seal in with a top coat. I used Seche Vite of course :). (That's also the reason why I could wear it that long.)

I hope you like it as much as I do. Do you think the gif-tutorial is going to fast? If so, let me know in the comments!
See you soon with more nail art!

Announcement: 31 Day Challenge 2014

I'm so happy to announce that I'm going to make my own 31 Day Challenge. The first day will be next Monday, March 31, and the last day will be April 30. Feel free to join and if you have any questions you can contact me.

First some rules:
1. Every day you post one or more nail designs with the theme of that day. E.g. if the theme is childhood, you make some nail art inspired by something from your childhood.
2. Of course, you have to post your own nail art. Do not steel someones work!
3. It would be really fun if you shared your work with me, so use the tag #31dc2014 on Tumblr, Instagram and Facebook and I'll take a look! :)
4. There are a lot of ways to make nail art: stamping, water decals, nailwraps... But the art of nail art is to make it free handed.

That's it, actually! There are no more rules needed.

And now some more information about the themes:
Basically the point is to make some nail art inspired by the day's theme. Most of the themes are clear I think so I'll explain only a few.
1. Colour: You choose a nail polish and make some nail art with it, so the colour comes out. You can also choose a nail polish with a nice name and  make some nail art with that name and colour.
2.Weather: This one is clear, but I want to make it more difficult. It would be cooler if you make a design inspired by the weather of that day on the place where you live.
3. Pattern: You can make a pattern out of everything, but the point is to draw that pattern on all nails!
4. Art: Here you can chose whether you take one painting or one artist. Feel free to combine different paintings too.
5. Building: I was thinking to take a vary famous building or monument, but you can also choose several buildings or your own house!
6. Perfume: I think this one is the most difficult one. Some perfumes really have a nice commercial that you can use as inspiration, but others haven't. If that's the case with your perfume, I suggest you make some nail art inspired by the smell and feeling that you get.
7. Traffic: That can also mean some vehicles.
8. Fashion: Whether you take something from your own closet or from the runway, doesn't matter. You can also choose between a whole outfit or just one piece of clothe.

VoilĂ ! If you have any questions, don't hesitate, just ask!

I hope you will take part! See you soon! :)

Spring is in the air!

Spring has already started, but the weather isn't that good. :( Nevertheless, I have a very spring like design waiting for you.
I did these one year ago, just before I started my blog. As it is a bit in the Easter theme I decided to not post it last year because Easter had already past. I know there are 4 weeks until Easter this year, but I will slowly start to get into the theme.

What do you think? Is spring in the air?

Adorable Accessories: Little blue flowers

Oh wow, it's been almost a week since my last post. I'm definitely not proud of that. You can't imagine how busy my week was. But that's not interesting so let's get to the point of this post: some new nail art.
I recently got a late present from a friend and I got some really cute earrings. Of course I had to make some nail art inspired by them.

What do you think? Do you like it matte?
( There are more things to tell you, but I'm so tired and I just don't have the strength to write at the moment. :( It will be for my next post. Hopefully that's going to be this weekend.)

DIY: earrings with nail polish

So far you've seen only one pair of earrings that I've made. (the moose earrings)
Well, now you'll see one more design. I made these for a friend of mine.
I was going to make a tutorial for the process, but it was really difficult to choose a right moment to photograph. (It also isn't easy to explain) I'll do my best to make a tutorial soon.

This is what I came up with. I liked them so much, it was hard for me to give them away! But then I realised I can make them again and again...

If you still remember, I use euro cents to make them. Unlike last time, I chose 2 euro cents because it's smaller, but still big enough to draw something.

This picture is to show you that I also paint the sides. If there's nail polish on the back I remove it with acetone after everything is done.

And now I have some exciting news to share. This Wednesday ( March 19) there will be a small market in my city. Everyone who wants to sell his own creations or second hand stuff can go there and claim a spot. The news is that I will be there too and I'll be selling earrings like these. I made more than 30 earrings and I hope that I can sell them all! In my next post I'll show you some pictures of my creations and some of the day itself. I'll keep you updated! :)

What do you think? Would you want some earrings like these?

Inspired by UO's shopping bag

I really get my inspiration from everything I see around me and on the Internet. This nail art is a good example for that. (The previous one too, actually!) Last week I went to the Urban Outfitters and I bought a necklace (maybe I'll do some nail art with it or just show it to you some time). The bag I got, really inspired me and that's what you'll see now.

The inspiration

Also this time I used my new Seche Vite. Again, it was all smooth and shiny and there were no bedsheets marks the next morning. Absolutely fabulous! :)
What do you think? Where do you get your inspiration from?

Inspired by wrapping paper

The title may sound a bit silly, the nail art isn't!
So I was wrapping presents for my friends' birthday party when I decided  to make some nail art out of it. It turned out to be really amazing and it was easy. It was also my first time using Seche Vite. Oh yes, you heard me: I bought a bottle of Seche Vite last week! More about that at the end of this post.

The combination of the flowers and the dots is really cute. As I said it was easy, so it didn't take much time to achieve this look. Ah, I shortened my nails. It was necessary because two of my nails (on my left hand!) were broken! :( But no worries, I like it this way too. It's a bit of a challenge to get nail art done on such a small area. Wow that's a lot of text. Let's get to the design!

This is how the wrapping paper looks like.

Here it is: my Seche Vite!

That evening I went to the party and all my friends were saying: "Wow, that's so smooth and shiny! How did you do that?" Of course it was the result of this miracle top coat!
You always hear people say how wonderful it is and now I can say it too. If you have the opportunity to buy it, don't hesitate and just do it! You won't regret at all!

This was a pretty long post! Once in a while I have something interesting to tell so I'll share it with you!
What do you think of my nail art? And of Seche Vite? Let me know!

A pastel leopard!

First of all: happy international women's day! I didn't make a special nail art for this day, sorry.
That doesn't mean it isn't nice. Can you imagine that this is my first leopard print ever? I know, right! I've always wanted to do this, but I never knew which colours to use. Just some little excuses, nothing else. But then a while ago I realised that this isn't right. I should make some leopard prints. Here it is!

I went for a pastel leopard as it is more special and really cute. This is so easy and you can't really go wrong with anything!
Yeah, see the smudging? Well, it will probably be the last time because I finally bought some Seche Vite! I'll show it to you in one of my next posts. One thing I can tell you know that you should know already. It's AMAZING! :)

So, what do you think? Is it scandalous that this was my first leopard print? Let me know if you have some other things I should really try!

Camouflage your nails

Are you going somewhere you can't be recognised? Then this is the perfect mani for you! ;)
It's really easy to do and it looks great with a matte top coat. What else do you need! The only things you need are some green and brown shades and a dotting tool. I think it's easier with a dotting tool than with a thin brush.

I used 5 colours and that's enough. First you paint your nails with the lightest colour and then the spots. Gold gives these serious nails a feminine touch.
If I were you, I would definitely give it a try!

Inspired by Magritte's "Ceci n'est pas une pipe"

This post was planned for yesterday but I just forgot to do it. :)
The nail art in this post was a challenge for me at first. Eventually it turned out to be very easy. I had just been to the museum of René Magritte in Brussels and I thought it would be appropriate to make some nail art.

This is the card that I bought from the souvenir shop.
Can you recognize the original artwork on my nails? Will you be trying this too?
